Social Justice in Interpreting

Social Justice in Interpreting

An infusion module for Interpreter Education Programs

created by Dave Coyne and Joseph Hill

Welcome

Welcome to the Social Justice Infusion Module for use in IEP classrooms. This module, commissioned by the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers (NCIEC) through the National Interpreter Education Center (NIEC), was developed by Dave Coyne and Joseph Hill. The module was reviewed and updated in 2016.

Intended Use of Module

This module is designed to be integrated into your learning environment. All the content is available as PDFs that can be downloaded and inserted in your institution’s Learning Management System (LMS) such as Blackboard, Moodle, etc. Also, all video content is provided by links you can copy and paste into your LMS. Of course, all the PowerPoint presentations can also be downloaded.

The menu on the left provides all the pages available for instructors.  The instructor guide is a comprehensive page for how to incorporate the resources into the curriculum.  Each student resource page does not have the menu accessible.  It is designed to be linked to from your LMS – and to have students return to your site for completion of the activities.

We offer this content to you free of charge and encourage you to incorporate it into your curriculum. We ask that all content retain the attribution information that appears on the PDF.

We’re sure you will agree this is a rich resource that fills a great need in interpreter education – namely, resources to introduce interpreting students to the importance of topics surrounding social justice.
